Mr Suggett studied medicine at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. He undertook pre-registration house jobs in Northampton and Oxford before completing his surgical training in the West Midlands.
He participated in laboratory-based research into colorectal cancer leading to the award of an MD from Birmingham University and was subsequently appointed as a Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2006.
He has become an established and respected consultant in the region and has acted as Clinical Service Lead for General Surgery as well as more senior managerial positions. Clinically his main interests lie in complex benign abdominal disease including hernias, intestinal failure and abdominal wall reconstruction.
He has extensive experience in managing the bowel complications of endometriosis and has been operating with his gynaecology colleagues on such patients for over 15 years.
He is a fully trained laparoscopic surgeon and can offer minimally invasive surgery for over 95% of cases as well as avoiding stomas (colostomies) for almost all cases.
